What we check

28 critical SEO checks across 5 categories

Every factor that directly influences Google's ranking algorithms is examined — from meta tags and technical infrastructure to content quality and social media optimisation.

Meta Tag Analysis 8 checks

Title, meta description, keywords, author, robots, publisher, charset and page language tag are all checked. Missing or incorrectly sized meta tags prevent Google from understanding your page and cause lower click-through rates.

Social Media Tags 2 checks

Facebook Open Graph and Twitter Card tags are verified. Without these, social media shares appear without a title or image — directly reducing click-through rate and brand credibility.

Technical SEO Checks 10 checks

SSL/HTTPS security, canonical URL, viewport meta tag, Schema.org structured data, 404 error page, AMP, iframe and table usage, favicon and mobile compatibility are all analysed.

Content Quality Analysis 6 checks

H1 presence and heading hierarchy (H2–H6), full list of images missing alt tags, dofollow/nofollow external link distribution, total word count and top-10 keyword extraction are all performed.

File Checks 2 checks

The existence and accessibility of your robots.txt and sitemap.xml are checked. These files are the foundational infrastructure for Google bot to crawl your site efficiently; their absence seriously slows indexing.

Keyword & Link Analysis Included in content analysis

After filtering stop words, the top 10 keywords on the page are ranked so you can see exactly what topic your site is optimised for. External links are categorised as dofollow or nofollow and listed with their source URLs.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How to run an SEO analysis, why canonical tags matter, what structured data does, what the dofollow/nofollow difference is — everything you need to know.

How do I perform a free SEO analysis?
Enter your website address in the form above and click 'Analyse'. Our server reads your page's HTML source and checks 28 critical SEO factors — including title tag, meta description, H1 structure, SSL security, canonical URL, Open Graph tags, structured data, robots.txt, sitemap.xml and more — all in seconds. No sign-up or credit card required.
How is the SEO score calculated?
Each check is rated Pass (10 points), Warning (5 points) or Fail (0 points). Informational 'Info' checks are excluded from scoring. Total points are divided by the maximum possible to produce a 0–100 score. 75+ means good shape, 50–74 means there are areas to improve, and below 50 means critical issues were found.
What is a canonical tag and why does it matter?
The canonical tag (<link rel='canonical' href='...'/>) tells Google which URL is the primary version when content is accessible via multiple URLs. Without it, the search engine may split PageRank across duplicate URLs and all versions can lose rankings. It is especially critical for e-commerce pages and URLs containing UTM parameters or session IDs.
How does structured data (Schema.org) help SEO?
Structured data enables Google to generate rich snippets in search results: star ratings, price information, FAQ accordions and event dates. These visual enhancements can increase click-through rate by an average of 20–30%. Adding Organization, WebPage, FAQPage or Product schema in JSON-LD format organically strengthens your site's search visibility.
Why are robots.txt and sitemap.xml so important?
robots.txt tells the Google bot which parts of your site it can crawl. A misconfigured robots.txt can accidentally exclude critical pages from the index. sitemap.xml provides the search engine with a complete list of your pages, especially accelerating discovery of pages with few internal links. Both files are essential for effective Googlebot crawling.
How do images without ALT tags affect rankings?
Google cannot read image content — it understands what an image shows through the alt tag. Images without alt tags reduce Google's ability to comprehend your page, forfeit image search traffic and create accessibility barriers. The tool lists every image missing an alt tag so you can fix them in bulk rather than hunting them down one by one.
What is the difference between dofollow and nofollow links?
Dofollow links pass PageRank (link juice) and are included in Google's ranking calculations. Nofollow links (rel='nofollow') do not pass link value. Seeing the dofollow/nofollow breakdown of external links on your page helps you identify unnecessary PageRank leaks and potentially harmful redirections. The tool categorises and lists all external links.
What is the difference between this free analysis and a comprehensive SEO report?
The free tool reports a single page's instant technical and meta SEO status across 28 checks. Our agency's comprehensive SEO report covers full-site crawling, keyword research and competitor comparison, content gap analysis, backlink profile assessment, Core Web Vitals optimisation and a 6–12 month growth roadmap. The free analysis is the starting point; the comprehensive report is the engine of sustainable growth.
